Site Crashes of August 2017
« on: August 31, 2017, 10:57:55 PM »
Whoops! With the advent of this 6th season of the PAC-12 Network and Conference, the over loads from Saturday, August 25 and Thursday, August 31 were somewhat expected, but not to the extent of what took place.

For those that were not able to watch on these days, I'm sorry for the troubles.

However, I was finally able to figure out the issue, recalling from when I had another chat program loading on my twigs76.com site and it kept crashing until I then adjusted the refresh rate for the chat box itself; same thing was happening here.  The auto refresh rate will be set at 20 seconds, as "Guest"s are allowed to chat, so the shoutbox has been loading everyone up, not just those directly on the site, but for those that happen to be on i4at.info with the chat page embedded there as well.

In the meantime, I am looking the costs of investing in a dedicated server at a few hosting sites, to find out what they offer. But in general, to get a server that meets the bare minimum requirements, the prices range from $50 - $150 per month.

So if that's something that is of interest to any of you in the quality of service, to help keep this site active and running smoother, please feel free to chime in on your thoughts. I had essentially been operating the service  by myself the past 5 seasons, but I would like your input as members, on which direction to focus, as it's for you, the fans and super fans of your and sports teams.

I am also open to the idea of placing ads for those who are wanting to host an event, related to sports. I could setup another payment structure as well.

Again, just other thoughts and possibilities over ads that are usually irrelevant to the site's focus, by using your own search history data.

1.  paywall paid subscription/mo. or yr.

2.  120 min single-game subscription

Franky, I've had a set up via WordPress with Paid Member Subscriptions by CosmoLabs. However, with the hiccup a lot of folks are experiencing now with trying to register at the WP site, I'm looking at separating the 2 sites, or seeing about making this one the primary source to register and login to.

1.  paywall paid subscription/mo. or yr.

2.  120 min single-game subscription

So at this point, I've implemented the built-in payment service, which still uses PayPal as it's source.

Being as this site is focused on sports, I am going to set up the names as "Passes" versus the terms of Trial, Subscription, etcetera.

As we are beginning to fine tune this site and add more channels from where I couldn't get but primarily stayed with PAC-12 and BYUtv, I am now considering the following prices for those paid "Passes":
  • 1 Day       - $  2.00
  • 1 Week     - $  5.00
  • 1 Month    - $ 10.00
  • 3 Months   - $ 25.00
  • 6 Months   - $ 45.00
  • 12 Months - $ 85.00

Though for those that have transitioned to this site since I implemented the SMF2WP bridge, I will recognize and honor their current subscription time. And will eventually disable the registration at the WP site.

* Customer Service

  • For Guests, Trial accounts and Members NOT logged in, there is NO LONGER a main shoutbox on the forum and homepage you can use. Following the NCAA Mens March Madness loss by the Arizona Wildcats, one Guest ruined it by posting the same message re: the Cats and what's transpired over the past few months. Not tolerated by myself as the owner of this site. 3/16/18 1400 PDT -Brian
  • For Members that are logged in, you will find a Members Only shoutbox on the homepage, and all available TV broadcast pages you can use.
When requesting support of a downed channel through the shoutbox, for enhanced support to guide you in the right direction, we ask of the following details:

  • TV Broadcast(s) in question
  • What you're attempting to watch on:
    • Mobile Device: Smartphone / Tablet (iOS, Android, Windows, or Linux)
    • Laptop or Desktop: Windows, Apple (Mac), Linux
    • Internet Connection: 4G, WiFi, or hardwired to a router on a broadband connection
    • Preferred Internet Browser: Microsoft Edge (Internet Explorer), Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Dolphin, etc.
We also ask of your patience as it may be a few minutes, or longer, to answer as we are not available 24/7/365-1/4, especially during the Holidays. We will do our best, but it is a 2-way street in supplying the support to help you get the best viewing experience possible.

Thank you very much,
